10 Extremely Low Income Homes and 1 Job Training Coffee Shop

WHO NEEDS AFFORDABLE HOUSING?

More people than you think. Since the Federal Government defines affordable housing as costing no more than 30% of a household’s gross income, it includes people who live on fixed income, and the working poor.

Across Colorado, there is a shortage of rental homes affordable and available to extremely low-income households, whose incomes are at or below the poverty guideline or 30% of their area median income (AMI). Many of these households are severely cost burdened, spending more than half of their income on housing. They are more likely than other renters to sacrifice other necessities like healthy food and healthcare in order to pay the rent, and to experience unstable housing situations like evictions.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

Our plan is to build a 3-story 6,000 s.f. wood frame building containing 10 efficiency apartments to target extremely low-income persons who need rental housing in Denver County. The building will also include a 1,000 s.f. coffee shop that will help individuals build skills and establish a foundation for a job in the food service and hospitality industries.

Please consider joining us by pledging a gift of $70,000 to fund the completion of one apartment.
